Monitoring of INTUC/JILAF New Learning Centre

We carried out monitoring of new Markapur INTUC/JILAF Learning Centre in Andra Pradesh, India on July 25, 2010. We have been running non-formal school in cooperation with Indian National Trade Union Congress or INTUC since July, 2009 with 5-year plan, and this is the second year of its operation.
“Students sometimes do not come to the school when it is raining. Therefore, we decided to introduce Auto-Rickshaw service for students for commuting on rainy days.” said Bro. Kranthi Kumar, Coordinator of Learning Centre.
On the same day, we organized an Awareness Meeting for local trade union leaders. In the meeting, Bro. Kranthi Kumar emphasized the necessity of compulsory education and called for involvement of trade unions against child labour.
We will keep supporting this kind of Awareness Meeting for local community through local trade union leaders.
