Industrial Relations and Labour Policy Seminar in Nepal
JILAF held a two-day seminar on industrial relations and labour policy in Kathmandu, Nepal, on December 13–14 for the three organizations affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), namely, the Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC), the General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT), and the All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF). Fifty-seven people attended, and 11 media organizations covered the seminar’s first day, including the Kantipur National Daily, News 24, and Mountain TV.
Malaysia-Pakistan-Philippines Team
JILAF invited a total of 14 persons (including 6 women) from organizations in three countries (the Malaysian Trades Union Congress [MTUC], Pakistan Workers’ Federation [PWF], and Trade Union Congress of the Philippines [TUCP]) to visit Japan from December 4 to 17.
VGCL/JILAF Industrial Relations and Labour Policy Seminar in Vietnam
JILAF, together with the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), held industrial relations and labour policy seminars in the two cities of Hai Phong and Can Tho during the period of January 8 to 14.

CWC/NTUF/SLNSS/JILAF Industrial Relations and Labour Policy Seminar in Sri Lanka
JILAF held a two-day industrial relations and labour policy seminar in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 17–18 for leaders of the three organizations in Sri Lanka affiliated with the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), namely, the Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC), National Trade Union Federation (NTUF), and Sri Lanka Nidahas Sevaka Sangamaya (SLNSS).

Industrial Relations and Labour Policy Seminar in Mongolia
JILAF, together with the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU), held a two-day industrial relations and labour policy seminar in Ulaanbaatar on August 30–31.
JILAF and the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) of the International Labour Organization (ILO) jointly held a multinational seminar in the Thai capital of Bangkok for five days from August 22 to 26 on the main theme of “Globalization, Economic Integration, and the Role of Trade Unions: Toward Employment Stability, the Prevention of Meaningless Industrial Disputes, Etc. through the Building of Constructive Industrial Relations.”
On August 17–20 a follow-up seminar for sugar cane farmers and a Life Support Seminar for vegetable farmers were held in the southern province of Savannakhet in Laos as part of the SGRA project (Supporting Grass-Roots Activities through the International Employers’ and Workers’ Network).

Implementation of the SGRA Project by the JILAF Thailand Office (July)
On July 3 the JILAF Thailand Office held a Life Support Seminar (LSS) in the northeastern province of Samut Sakhon in Thailand for 28 informal-sector workers (migrant workers, etc.) facing especially difficult conditions with the aim of promoting future community development of the SGRA project (Supporting Grass-Roots Activities through the International Employers’ and Workers’ Network).
JILAF invited 10 people (including 7 women) from the three countries of Kazakhstan, Turkey, and Ukraine to visit Japan from June 26 to July 9. All of the programs were completed according to schedule.

ACFTU/JILAF Industrial Relations and Labour Policy Seminars in China
JILAF, together with the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), held two industrial relations and labour policy seminars in China on June 6 and 8, the first in Beijing and the second in the city of Nanjing in Jiangsu Province.
JILAF invited the Asia Youth Team to visit Japan from June 5 to 18. This time the team consisted of eight persons (including five women) from six organizations in four countries (India, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Vietnam).

The 5th LFTU/GUF/TUSSO Multinational Donor Coordination Meeting was held in Vientiane, Laos, on May 13–14 with the participation of 40 people from JILAF and other supporting organizations, Global Union Federations (GUF), and other organizations.

NTUC/JILAF Informal School Management Meeting and Teacher Training Held in Nepal
On Wednesday, April 6 the Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC) and JILAF held a school management meeting in Kathmandu for the nine informal schools that they operate in Nepal. A total of 43 teachers and school administrators attended.
The SGRA project (Supporting Grass-Roots Activities through the International Employers’ and Workers’ Network) in Nepal, which has been implemented with grants from the Japanese government (Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare) since fiscal 2011, has entered its sixth year. On the occasion of the project’s start in fiscal 2016, JILAF dispatched a delegation to Kathmandu from April 4 (Monday) to 10 (Sunday) to hold discussions and coordinate with local people involved in the project.
