Indonesia-Philippines Team
A program was held for the Indonesian-speaking unit from January 16 to January 20 (online), and for the English-speaking unit from January 28 to February 3 (in Japan). The entire program was completed by six participants (including one woman) from Indonesia and seven participants (including four women) from the Philippines. In total, there were thirteen participants (including five women) from two countries.
This was the first program that was held both online and in Japan in 2022.
When it was held online, participants had a session with RENGO Gifu, in which they listened to a presentation and exchanged opinions on RENGO Gifu’s activities.
On the other hand, when it was held in Japan, participants had a session with a local of the trade union confederation, in which they visited RENGO Saga and listened to a presentation on local labour conditions, minimum wage, and other such matters. In addition to this, the Japanese Trade Union Confederation gave a presentation about their “Initiatives for Gender Equal Participation,” the National Council of Workers’ Welfare gave a presentation about their “Origin and Initiatives,” and the Federation of Electric Power Related Industry Workers’ Unions of Japan gave a presentation about their “Overview and Initiatives,” and exchanged opinions with participants.
The main action plans that were proposed by participants are as follows.
(1) We would like to spread and share the materials, experiences, and knowledge we have obtained from this program with our organisation. (Indonesia)
(2) We will build a collaborative system with other organisations for the implementation of competency-based training. (Indonesia)
(3) We would like to build relationships and strategic partnerships at the domestic and international levels. (Philippines)
(Example: Trade unions in the Philippines / NC, JILAF, ITUC, ITUC-AP, ATUC in each respective country, etc.)
(4) We would like to work on improving the ability of the ALU-SMR Regional President to promote industrial relations and gender equal participation in the banana and mining industries. We will also work to improve the Presidents of the Banana and Mining Unions’ knowledge of industrial relations and labour conditions in the Philippines. (Philippines)
